modern drunkard’s path – revisited

modern drunkard's path - the all print version

It started with this, that made me make this, that lead to a class, that lead to another for which I made this. This version is so wee compared to the first. This one is about 30 x 45 inches, or something in that ballpark. It’s half the size of the original. Hey, I know! Let’s put a baby on it for scale:

oh, hello!

That doesn’t really give you a better idea? Heh. Well, really I just wanted to show off the kidlet – because I’m a little smitten with her. And when I say “a little,” I really mean “a lot.”
Anyhow, since this quilt works well scaled up or scaled down, I’m including templates for both versions in the pattern. Oh yeah, I wrote a pattern for it, which will soon be available through gather here. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available. In the meanwhile, summer’s a great time to finish up quilts, no?

  1. Hello!
I just found your blog through the class description of a Gather Here Class. I have been taking classes with them for months and have been wanting to get into quilting. (I think I was finishing up a dress class when you were starting the second session of the herringbone class, maybe).

I was only going to take one September class but when I saw your blog I *had* to take the bunting quilt class with you as well. I can't get over how beautiful the pieces you make are and I am so looking forward to learning from you! I can so clearly see the love that goes into these things you make for your family and it is really touching.

Eek, so sorry for being such an internet creeper! See you in class!
    Nicole

  2. yayyy! these quilts have been a huge inspiration to get back to sewing for me (i loves the colors) and, although i'm sure i could have just finagled it on my own i'm quite glad to take your notes and experiences via a pattern. 🙂 can't wait!

  3. You've inspired me to finish the quilt I started over a year ago! I don't have any pattern–just making it up as I go.

Do you have any books & websites to recommend on quilting? Thanks, Maritza! Awesome quilt! And babe!!

  4. this is my favorite quilt of all time. Just as you were obsessed with the Sleepy Hollow triangle quilt, your modern drunkard's path quilts keep me up at night with inspiration and wild obsessions. You are amazing!
