I saw this amazing design on a mosque while walking through my neighborhood.

I wanted to figure out how to simplify the planes in order to make a quilt with a similar motif. I looked up images of tile work and found this one that appealed to me in terms of color, simplicity, and patterning.

I played around on Illustrator making vector drawings of shapes and came up with a design I could easily English Paper Piece. I made my templates, and I got to it. I will be teaching folks how make this using EPP at Gather Here on Saturday, August 16th. Please join us if you’re around!
